Traitors of Time

It’s the Annuel Chrono-Convergence Conference a prestigious event for time travelers hosted by The Temporal Dynamics Institute (TDI). A cutting-edge research facility where scientists have developed a series of time travel devices.

Recently it has been on the brink of the next breakthrough in time travel, developing a device that allows human consciousness to be sent back in time without physically altering the present. Tonight, the machine was meant to be tested but the project lead, Dr. Thaddeus Tempus Sr. is found dead under mysterious circumstances and suspicion falls on the guests and team members, each of whom had their own reasons for wanting him out of the picture.

The suspects are all scientists, time travellers and experts in time travel law, history, and technology. They must solve the murder and figure out the fate of the Lab but each person has their own motives and alibis. The Investigator must piece together the timeline of events leading up to the murder and figure out what really happened.

What is the best Time Travel murder mystery game?

A time travel–themed murder mystery game takes players on a wild journey through centuries, timelines, and paradoxes. Set during a historic summit of time travelers—or within a malfunctioning laboratory, lost civilization, or temporal rift—the game spirals into chaos when someone ends up dead and the timeline begins to unravel. With characters from different eras, conflicting motivations, and secrets that could change history itself, this game is perfect for players who enjoy mystery, science fiction, and high-concept storytelling.

Can I play this Time Travel murder mystery game with 10 people?

Yes, this game works perfectly for a group of 10. The standard version supports between 4 and 14 participants, and 10 is an ideal number for strong character interactions and steady pacing. Each player takes on a role from a different time period—each with their own goals, secrets, and possible connections to the murder. The format is flexible and can easily be adjusted if your group size changes.

Is this Time Travel murder mystery game available for virtual play or in-person events?

Yes, the game can be played in-person or virtually. In-person events can be enhanced with themed décor, props from different eras, or a “temporal hub” space. For virtual events, clues and character roles can be shared digitally, and the storytelling format works very well over video calls. Whether your guests are gathered in the same room or dialed in from different time zones, the experience is immersive and engaging.

How long does it take to play this Time Travel murder mystery game?

Most groups complete the game in 1.5 to 3 hours. A 10-player game typically runs around two hours, depending on the group’s level of immersion, pacing, and whether you include breaks, snacks, or thematic interludes. You can run the mystery in a single session or break it into “time phases” for a more segmented experience.

What is included in the Time Travel murder mystery game kit?

The kit includes everything you need to host a full mystery spanning centuries. It comes with a host guide with setup instructions, individual character profiles with time-specific backstories and hidden objectives, themed clues and evidence revealed throughout the game, narration scripts or prompts to guide the event, themed digital invitations, and final voting cards. You’ll also get costume and décor suggestions to help bring different eras to life—from ancient history to the distant future.

Can I play this Time Travel murder mystery game more than once?

Yes, the game is built for replayability. The murderer can be randomized each time, and characters’ paths change depending on the players involved. With so many era-based personalities, paradoxes, and potential twists, each session offers a different storyline. You can host it again with new guests or swap character roles to keep things fresh.

What events or occasions is this Time Travel murder mystery game suitable for?

This game works well for a wide variety of events. It’s great for birthdays, game nights, sci-fi fan groups, cosplay gatherings, comic conventions, escape room fans, or even history-themed school or library programs. If your group enjoys imagination, roleplay, and creative thinking, a time travel mystery adds a unique twist to any occasion.

What is the recommended age group for this Time Travel murder mystery game?

The game is recommended for ages 15 and up. It’s designed to be suitable for teens and adults, with non-graphic content and a focus on logic, story, and character interaction. Younger players may enjoy it with adult guidance, while older players will appreciate the depth and complexity of the time-travel premise.

Do players need to dress up in costumes for this Time Travel murder mystery?

Costumes are optional but strongly encouraged. Since players portray characters from various time periods, the possibilities are endless—futuristic tech suits, medieval robes, Victorian attire, modern outfits, or even prehistoric accessories. Each role includes costume suggestions, but players can participate as casually or as creatively as they like. Even small props or time-themed items add to the fun.

Can I add more players or characters to this Time Travel murder mystery game?

Yes, the game can be expanded to accommodate up to 20 players using additional character packs. Each new role introduces a time traveler from a different era or alternate timeline, complete with their own objectives and ties to the central mystery. Whether your party is a compact chrononaut crew or a full time-traveling council, the structure stays balanced and exciting for everyone involved.
