HOW IT WORKS
This is a brand-new version of Dead Men Drink No Rum, redesigned for even more fun and flexibility. The updated format works seamlessly for both in-person and virtual events, with easy-to-follow host instructions, engaging evidence reveals, and interactive character booklets that keep every player involved.
While most of the gameplay is improvised and interactive, there are some short, scripted lines to set the scene and introduce characters - perfect for players who like a little extra guidance at the start. After that, it’s all about using your backstory, hidden objectives, and clues to share (or keep secret) as the mystery unfolds.
MURDER MYSTERY PLOT
The Bouncing Barnacle, a pirate ship, has just docked in Santa Tortuga. Its rambunctious crew meet at the village tavern alongside the colourful locals. But the party is cut short when Pop DeKegg, the tavern keeper, is found drowned with his head in a vat of rum. He’d been holding a treasure map for the pirates — was that why he was murdered? Or was it a local who wanted the riches for themselves? Or did someone mistake Pop for his lookalike cousin, the pirate Captain “Lefty” Loosey?

I used this as an evening activity at our pirate themed scout camp. All the scouts loved it though I would have liked step by step host instructions to make the evening flow with no confusion! There were all 20 characters in play and the scouts had a blast!

This is my second Murder Mystery I have purchased from this company and it never fails to disappoint!
I would recommend having a seperate host rather than someone playing along as it can get confusing having to listen carefully to everyone and run it at the same time.
I found this time round ran much smoother with it being pre planned and everyone having character books before hand to play in character and if they were the chosen murderer know how to answer things better rather than read off the sheet.
Overall cannot recommend enough - completed with a party of 14 and was a great laugh for all!!

We had a great time! Only one person was able to solve the murder. We had name tags which helped and I have out the first round of the script beforehand. We sang sea shanties which added a lot to the jovial spirit. Everyone brought a plate so it was more of a lounge than a sit down dinner which was great for talking.
