PLOT

A Scandal in Bodgerton

High society in 1813 Bodgerton is a-buzz, from the Queen herself down to the kitchen help. Every week, a certain “L. Whistlewind” releases a new scandal sheet containing the most delicious gossip. So far, these rumours have led to three elopements, two duels, and an onstage riot that ended the opera during Act I.

But the worst part is that no one knows who “L. Whistlewind” is. Who could be writing such shocking things—many of them unfortunately true? A young lady desperate to remove her rivals in the marriage market? A servant eager to get back at the “gentlefolks”? An eligible gentleman trying to distract attention from his disgraceful escapades?

Could it be—YOU?

Bridgerton und Jane Austen thematisches <tc>Krimidinner für Zuhause</tc>set FAQs

Masters of Mystery’s mysteries are widely regarded as the premier Bridgerton-inspired murder mystery game for fans of high society, scandal, and suspense. Set within the grand ballrooms and private salons of Regency England, the game invites players into a world of viscounts, debutantes, duchesses, and gossip columnists. When a guest at a lavish soirée is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the glittering night quickly descends into an evening of suspicion and whispered secrets. With its richly woven plotlines, aristocratic character roles, and elegant intrigue, this game is a must-have for those who adore period drama and thrilling deduction in equal measure.

Yes – the Bridgerton-style murder mystery game is ideal for a gathering of 10 participants. The game is designed with flexible casting to accommodate groups of varying sizes, and the 4–14 player version fits a 10-person party beautifully. Whether your guests are playing the role of a meddling matchmaker, a mysterious marquess, or a scandal-prone socialite, each character contributes to the tangled web of secrets. The narrative is structured to adapt smoothly, so even if your final guest list changes, you can still host an elegant evening of regency-era drama without disruption.

Yes – the game is designed for both in-person and virtual gatherings, giving you the freedom to host your scandalous soirée in the setting of your choice. Whether you plan to fill your parlour with powdered wigs and pearls or bring the ton together over a video call, the game’s structure supports both formats. Guests can receive character roles and clues in advance, and the immersive dialogue and story flow beautifully across screens or ballroom floors alike. No matter the setting, the spirit of gossip, mystery, and aristocratic intrigue remains utterly captivating.

The game typically runs between 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the size of your guest list and how thoroughly participants embrace their roles. Most gatherings conclude in about two to three hours, which allows time for introductions, clue exchanges, and the final dramatic reveal. For smaller parties, the pace may be quicker, but many hosts choose to intersperse the evening with dinner courses, waltzes, or toasts to enhance the atmosphere. The event’s length can be tailored to your schedule, making it perfect for an evening of genteel scandal and sleuthing.

The game kit includes everything needed to transport your guests into the heart of Regency England for an evening of elegance and espionage. Inside, you'll find:

– A refined manual to assist in preparing the guest list, assigning characters, and orchestrating each round of play.

– Beautifully written profiles that provide each guest with a unique identity, background secrets, objectives, and conversation prompts—all steeped in period style.

– Enchanting documents such as handwritten letters, scandalous diary entries, and intercepted invitations revealed at key intervals during the game.

– Optional guided storytelling segments, designed to move the plot forward in the tone of a society narrator or unseen gossipmonger.

– Themed printable invites styled as regency correspondence, perfect for setting the tone of elegance and mystery from the outset.

– Ideas for empire-waist gowns, cravats, and tea-time delicacies to help bring the aristocratic setting to life.

– Printed cards for guests to record their final accusations and suspicions in the game’s climactic conclusion.

This kit ensures your event is as seamless and sophisticated as any affair hosted by Lady Danbury herself.

Yes – the game is designed with replayability in mind. The identity of the murderer can change from one playthrough to the next, allowing hosts to re-use the materials with different groups or even revisit the game with familiar players assuming new roles. With so many layered motives, shifting alliances, and potential betrayals, each session unfolds with fresh intrigue. It’s an excellent choice for seasonal parties, book clubs, or recurring social gatherings where you want a high-society experience that never grows tiresome.

This game is a delightful addition to any occasion that would benefit from a touch of Regency flair and interactive storytelling. It’s particularly suited for:

– Combine the mystery with a multi-course meal, candlelight, and string quartets for a truly immersive experience.

– An unforgettable experience for fans of period dramas and elegant costumed affairs.

– Perfect for a refined pre-wedding gathering where guests can play socialites and suitors with secrets.

– Turn a relaxed gathering into an evening of witty repartee and mystery-solving over scones and prosecco.

– An excellent pairing with Jane Austen, Julia Quinn, or historical fiction discussions.

– Especially suited for New Year’s, Valentine’s, or any event where elegance and entertainment are desired.

Whether you're planning an intimate salon evening or a grand midseason ball, this mystery game ensures elegance and entertainment are always on the guest list.

The game is best suited for ages 15 and above. While the content is appropriate and free of graphic material, the intrigue, romantic tensions, and strategic gameplay are most engaging for older teens and adults. Players will enjoy adopting period roles, interpreting clues, and navigating social politics as they attempt to unmask the culprit. Whether you’re a university student, a period drama fan, or a seasoned party host, the game’s refined storytelling and layered characters appeal across generations.

While not required, Regency-era costumes are strongly encouraged to enhance the immersive charm of the evening. Whether guests choose to go all out with empire-waist gowns, waistcoats, gloves, and fans—or simply add subtle nods like lace gloves or a statement hairpiece—costumes add elegance and depth to the game. Character sheets include attire suggestions, and you can invite your guests to embrace the theme via the invitation cards. Even minimal costume efforts will help set the tone and make for stunning photos and unforgettable memories.

Yes – you can easily accommodate more guests by adding character expansion packs designed for larger parties. These expansions introduce new members of the ton, including gossip columnists, scandalous socialites, meddling mothers, and other nobles, each with their own secrets and ties to the central mystery. Whether you're hosting a small drawing-room gathering or a full-blown high society ball, the story scales gracefully to fit your guest list. All added characters come with their own objectives and clues, ensuring that even in a room of 20, no one is merely a wallflower.

Yes – the host can fully participate in the game without needing to step aside. The game is elegantly structured so that the identity of the murderer is kept secret—even from the host—unless you choose to review the solution beforehand. This allows the host to take on a role, mingle with guests, and enjoy the unfolding drama without sacrificing the surprise ending. Alternatively, the host may assume the role of a society narrator or mysterious informant, guiding the evening with a flair befitting Lady Whistledown herself. Either way, you can enjoy both planning and playing with equal satisfaction.
