An art heist–themed murder mystery game is the perfect blend of elegance, intrigue, and deception. Set during a glamorous gallery opening, private auction, or high-profile exhibit, the game takes a dark turn when a priceless piece of art goes missing—and someone ends up dead. With suspects ranging from curators and collectors to security staff and mysterious guests, the story unfolds through secrets, lies, and suspicious motives. It’s ideal for those who enjoy suspenseful storytelling, high-stakes drama, and a touch of criminal sophistication.

Can I play this Art Heist murder mystery game with 10 people?

Yes, this game is designed to work beautifully with 10 players. The base version supports 4 to 14 participants, and 10 provides a great balance of interaction, pace, and character complexity. Each player takes on a unique role with connections to the stolen artwork and potential motives. The game is easy to adapt if your guest list changes before the event.

Is this Art Heist murder mystery game available for virtual play or in-person events?

Yes, the game can be hosted either in person or online. For in-person events, it fits perfectly with cocktail-style parties, gallery-inspired décor, or even formal dinners. For virtual play, the roles and clues can be shared digitally, and the dialogue-based format translates well to video calls. Whether you’re gathered in a living room or across the world, the mystery stays immersive and engaging.

How long does it take to play this Art Heist murder mystery game?

The game usually takes between 1.5 and 3 hours. Most 10-player groups will complete the mystery in about two hours. The length can vary depending on how much roleplay your guests enjoy, how long you spend between rounds, and whether you include extra features like wine tasting, themed breaks, or a gallery walk.

What is included in the Art Heist murder mystery game kit?

The kit contains everything you need to run a complete mystery event. It includes a host guide with setup instructions, individual character sheets with private objectives and backstories, themed clues and evidence to reveal throughout the game, narration scripts or scene-setting prompts, themed digital invitations, and final voting cards. You’ll also get tips for décor, music, and costume suggestions to help set a high-society art world tone.

Can I play this Art Heist murder mystery game more than once?

There is no graphic content, making it appropriate for older teens and adults who enjoy mystery-solving, character play, and creative storytelling.

Do players need to dress up in costumes for this Art Heist murder mystery?

Costumes aren’t required, but they enhance the experience. Guests can dress in upscale or themed attire—think cocktail dresses, tuxedo-inspired outfits, gallery curator style, or even vintage fashion. Character profiles include wardrobe tips, but even simple props like sunglasses, gloves, or art-critic accessories add atmosphere. A red carpet or velvet rope entry can also add flair to the event.

Can I add more players or characters to this Art Heist murder mystery game?

It was our first time holding a Murder Mystery Party. It was a great success, and everyone is asking when we will hold the next one. We are planning on holding another one before Christmas.

I turned my house into an art gallery. I designed my own Black Iris painting, dressed up a dummy as Sir Reginald, and recreated the inspector script into a video with AI. It was AWESOME.

The game was great as is and it was very easy and worked- we had a great time.

Our group definitely enjoyed the night!!! I do think it’s a bit overpriced, since I had to pay to print it all and put it in folders and make it cohesive throughout… but we enjoyed gameplay. I do think some answers were made in a way so it’s not to hard to figure out who the murderer is because you can look at the other part of your script and see what it says if you were guilty. Things seemed similar for some guilty responses. I suppose because there’s only one guilty. Overall I do think I would have another murder mystery party.

Very well written murder mystery. We are experienced in the genre and thought this was the best one we had seen. Multiple story lines and activities for participants. The highlight were three hilarious movies produced for the game. There was quite a bit of prep work, but was worth it. Made for a very memorable and fun party!

Loved the murder mystery game!

We had great fun. Mitchell Angelo went all out with his costume including the fake Italian police ID! The instructions were easy to follow and the concept of picking the murderer on the night was genius. It meant I could enjoy the evening and take part as much as everyone else. The scripts could be a little less heavy on the ink - too much black (I managed to avoid printing all but one of those pages - and that one got so wet, it shredded in my printer). We’ll definitely do another game in future.

The game was so much fun, would definitely purchase again!

Who dunnit?! The Murder Mystery Dinner was such a fun way to get through a chilly winter weekend! We got to dress up, eat all the yummy food, and have a lot of laughs with good friends! We definitely plan to make this a new tradition! I made a slideshow with the downloaded clues, sound bites, and sequence of events to help keep the game running smoothly. Loved it!

We did this for my mom’s 60th birthday celebration! It was her first murder mystery and she had a blast! The rest of the family also really enjoyed it and we went all out 😃

My major complaint is the huge amount of black ink used in printing all of the play Could you please less black ink due to all the murder mystery advertising etc Other than that The murder mystery is a great success on out yearly gathering

Really great game! Decently easy to play and you can use it multiple times. I would recommend they make a smaller booklet per character too, I have reformatted it into pamphlets to make it a bit easier to digest for players, but really fun game!

We loved the game! We played with 8 people and had a great time despite a couple of issues. It was easy to set expections for dress and to get folks in the headspace to really play their character. The game itself, rated medium difficulty, was easy to set up and follow along for the most part. I wouldn't recommend this for a group that's been drinking. It does require quite a bit of focus and mental effort. The game is set up so that the host can also play. I heavily recommend the host NOT be a character as it was very difficult to keep the game moving, clarify instructions and also interact as the character. It was our first time with this brand of game so we were learning as we were playing and it was pretty difficult. It's also unclear where all the other 42 characters came into play. We still haven't solved that mystery. The last note- the printable version of the booklets wasted so much ink with ads, fully black pages, and unnecessary content. A basic, no frills printable version of the booklets would be greatly appreciated! Overall, we'll still play again. We had a great time dressing up, being in character, and planning our night around the game. We love that we can replay the same game, and we know it'll be smoother sailing the next time through.

The evening was fun but the extra characters and information in the booklet meant answering lots is questions during the game. Sometime references to characters not even part of the 8 game is confusing.

Truly so so so much fun! I did it for my 30th birthday and it was a great night! Everyone loved the scripts, and how organized + thorough it was

I really liked the concept and the detailed scripts. The guests really committed to their parts! I wish the instructions for the host had been included in the detective script so it would have felt more seamless and easier to prepare for. Overall happy with it.

So fun and awesome you can use it over and over again with different people, amount of people, and outcomes. There can be a small learning curve the first time, but once you get it - it's great!

Seller was very responsive to additional questions we had about game set up. Out Murdery Mystery dinner was a huge hit and a fun time was had by all who attended! Thanks for the communication and for providing such a quality product!

2 stunden pure Spannung!

I did not realize people would need their guides in front of them for the game, so plays was a bit challenging ,

We had so much fun! Would do it again.

13 teenagers were really into it and had a great time!

Fun story line, loved the recordings. Some of the characters didn't mesh the best .

Nice! Leuke karakters

bought this for a group of friends to celebrate my birthday with and we had the best time!!

Good fun!

The character Lisa Mona did not have a character guide so that was a bit disappointing for my friend that had chosen to be the mistress. I also don’t know if the guilty and innocent answers are distinct enough. The clues don’t really seem relevant to the mystery. And I was a bit disappointed that all of the characters had the same rumors.

While a great way to get friends and family together, the fact that the murderer isn't known until the end of Round 1 means that all the information they get about characters up until then is actually useless, as anyone could be the killer. I did it twice with 2 different great, enthusiastic crowds, and noone guessed the killer either time, meaning that there really wasn't enough evidence to figure it out, and characters weren't well-developed Next time I'll look for a better written 'mystery', though we had fun overall. loved the art theme.

Pretty good but needs improvement

Great game thanks

I was nervous that this would be complicated but it was pretty simple to follow. If you aren’t buying the kit for max amount of people you won’t be able to use every character. The character options decrease. So don’t assign characters until you have printed off everything and see which ones your kit includes

Our family game day was next-level fun and involved by buying the murder mystery!

The the art of murder an art heist kit made hosting really easy. The theme worked perfectly for our group, and I would definitely choose another theme.

Everyone enjoyed and played their characters well. This was definitely a hit!

Had a great time playing the Art of Murder! I’ve played murder mysteries before that have been cheesy, but this one wasn’t. Will definitely do another one!

The the art of murder an art heist kit was a hit with our group. The story kept everyone involved, and the whole night felt special. The 4-14 players version suited us well.

We had such a good time with the the art of murder an art heist kit. There were loads of laughs. A few costumes made it feel even better.

You need to have someone copy edit it - lots of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Overall a good experience tho :)

it was such a fun experience that was very straightforward and easy to play!

So much fun. We chose the the art of murder an art heist kit and the mystery kept us talking all night. The 4-14 players version suited us well. The printable materials helped us keep everything organised.
