How many people can play?

Play solo, or team up with a partner. Cold cases are a one or two-player investigation — ideal for date night or a quiet night in.

How long does it take?

Most people spend around 1 to 2 hours working through this cold case dossier, though there is no time limit. You are free to investigate at your own pace, revisiting the evidence and letters whenever you like.

With over 30 pieces of evidence to examine, including victim files, police-style reports and letters believed to be from Jack the Ripper, some detectives take their time to study every detail while others move quickly from lead to lead.

Do I need to print anything?

This was my first time doing any kind of murder mystery game at home. I wanted to try something that I could play solo. I originally bought it for an upcoming gathering, but decided to play by myself. I knew it would be fun and I assumed it’d be more fun with a group, but lemme tell you!! I actually played this game over the course of a week because I am a working mom and wife and that made the mystery more fun. I kept thinking about it and couldn’t wait until I had dedicated time to sit and play. Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper. I had an amazing time playing this game by myself!

Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper – Cold Case File Game

It was a fun way to spend an afternoon on Family Day! It proved to be trickier than we had originally anticipated, which was a good thing. We thought, perhaps, it might be a general 'connect the dots' kind of game where it would be solved fairly quickly, but that was not the case at all. We will definitely be looking at purchasing another one to test our skills again! Great concept, great gift!
